The centre of Santa Brígida has been marked for more than two decades by an unfinished shopping centre, occupying a 15,000 m² site in the heart of the municipality. In 2023, Instituto20grados initiated a citizen participation process to explore the future of this space and establish the foundations for the future Plaza de la Villa.

The process brought together local residents, social groups, businesses, political representatives and technical teams to identify the needs, aspirations and priorities for the future of the site. Through workshops, interviews and collaborative working sessions, local knowledge became a central component in defining the project.
The process was structured around three interconnected phases: gathering information and listening to the community, analysing and contextualising the results, and translating the conclusions into action. This final phase resulted in a preliminary strategy for the future Plaza de la Villa, transforming the knowledge gathered through participation into spatial and functional guidelines.
The resulting proposal seeks to transform a long-standing urban problem into an opportunity to create a new social and environmental centre for Santa Brígida, reconnecting the site with the life of the municipality.
