LPA Studio has concentrated its field of action in the so-called global south, especially in the two subtropics and their Mediterranean and tropical peripheries. These two bands concentrate an average temperature of 20ºC with lifestyles linked to the outdoors and well-being that are increasingly in demand, but also significant challenges such as rising temperatures, the decarbonisation of their economies and the loss of cultural and natural identity, among others. Responding to these challenges and unlocking the potential of these “geographies of good weather” is LPA Studio’s speciality.

Strategy+Design+Construction

Urban and territorial development requires several phases that include the definition of the attributes of the project and how to develop it (Strategy), the spatial, functional and environmental definition (Design) and the material assembly (Construction) with its corresponding viability and sustainability standards. With the idea of being able to respond to this new context, LPA Studio has established four divisions (LPA Strategy, LPA Design and LPA Constructing), which, together with the R+D+I unit (Instituto20grados), group together the disciplines necessary to accompany the client from the initial phases of the project.

Instituto20grados

Instituto20grados is the research and development unit (R+D+i) of LPA Studio. It has the legal form of a foundation, and its mission is to develop sustainable urbanisation models adapted to the singularities and climatic challenges of the global south. Its activities include project development, training activities and the dissemination of ideas through publications, exhibitions and discussion forums. The Institute is based in the Canary Islands and regularly collaborates with international institutions and organisations.

Sustainability as a regeneration task

LPA Studio is committed to a version of sustainability that aims to improve and regenerate the environmental, social and economic conditions of the places where it intervenes. LPA Studio works with its methodology and has the BREEAM Urbanism certification, with which it certifies urban projects and constructions. The commitment to generate positive impacts also includes the company’s activity, managed through the B Corp certification.
