Juan Palop-Casado (Valencia, 1967) is an architect and urbanist. He studied at the schools of Las Palmas (Spain), Oxford Brookes (UK), and Harvard (USA), where he graduated with a Master in Design Studies (MDesS). He is an expert in sustainable urbanism and a BREEAM Communities assessment auditor.
He is the founder and director of LPA Studio, a multidisciplinary and award-winning office practising territorial, urban, and landscape projects. Drawing on its nature-based approach, its field of action is concentrated in southern geographies (arid, semiarid, and Mediterranean), where LPA Studio has developed a singular design methodology to regenerate their social and environmental dynamics and patterns. They called it: biourbanism for the sunny side of the planet.
In parallel to his leading role at LPA Studio, he is the cofounder and president of the Instituto20grados foundation, a research and prototyping unit that explores biocentric ways of inhabiting the global South at this moment of climate emergency, social vulnerabilities and biodiversity loss.
