We are pleased to announce that the Gran Canaria Trade Fair Master Plan (INFECAR Feria de Gran Canaria) has been shortlisted for the BREEAM Awards 2024 on sustainability in the People´s Choice Award category.
The sustainability strategy includes a series of innovations consisting of a carbon zero plan, a net positive biodiversity action, bioclimatic design solutions, a natural waste treatment plant, and a Life Cycle calculation that aspires to comply with the decarbonisation mandate by 2050. From then on, the whole complex will operate as a tree, exhaling oxygen and sequestrating C02. Seventy-five per cent of the visitors plan to access the site by public and soft transport modes. These environmental standards and the social and user-oriented ones will make the INFECAR Feria de Gran Canaria accredited as a new generation of international fair complexes committed to having a “positive impact” on their (human and non-human) community.
